To start with the trailers and screenshots do not do this game justice. You start the game inside a beautiful log cabin with a stunning scenery outside it makes you wish you could fish off the deck but sadly at the moment you can't, inside the cabin it holds one of the biggest fish tanks I've ever seen. The tank can be customized by buying new accessories from the in game store like rocks, plants, submarines, ships and classical buildings to fill it up and make it feel more homely.

The outside scenery can be changed from real time, day, sunset and night. Movement options for walking around your cabin has free movement, smooth rotation, teleportation and click turning.
Loading into my first fishing spot I was blown away by the photo realistic scenery, in the distance a ferry is floating along the lake and the sounds of birds, insects and cars In the background it really does make you feel like your actually in the real world. It felt so real in fact that during my usual First 15 Minute video on YouTube I had to stop due to a panic attack I think the game tricked my mind so much that I was outside, being agoraphobic it took it out of me. I had to play in little doses here and there over the weekend easing myself into it then played for over an hour non-stop slowly the feeling went away and thankfully so, Real VR Fishing is one of the best looking games I've played on the Quest so far.

The fish when caught are highly detailed and very life-like even flapping their fins whist in your hand, from here you can choose to release the fish and take the xp bonus which goes towards unlocking the next of the 15 real world lakes and rivers or keeping the fish for money which you can then use in the store upgrading your fish tank also buying better rods, reels and different lures to use.
The environments are full of life with duck's swimming along the lake to birds flying across the sky and the splashing of the water against the shore or boat. The world feels alive, for me though the levels with rain are my favorite there is nothing like being on the boat in the middle of a rain storm all alone while you fish.
There are quite a few environmental actions which happen but I won't spoil them as some are a very nice surprise when they happen.

At the moment the game has no online multiplayer but MIRAGESOFT have said it will be released near the end of the year, the game does have an online leader board so you can challenge your friends scores that way.
You can earn in game trophies which go into you lodge from doing some of the game's many challenges such as catching over 1000 fish, fishing whilst at night and also for the number of fish you release or keep plus many more.
The game also comes with a built in music player which allows you to play your own personal mp3 music whilst out on the lakes. Also near the end of the year MIRAGESOFT is adding 5 all new sea fishing locations.
For Oculus Go owners wondering about the difference between the Go and the Quest the developer has outlined some of the differences below.
- Enhanced overall game play physics
- Polished UX for 6DoF experience
- Enhanced graphics (New shader for water and background).
If you are into fishing or just want an amazing relaxed game to chill out too then look no further Real VR Fishing have set the gold standard. With some of the most visually stunning location's in VR I highly recommend.
9.5/10
